It seems that it is most likely is. I attempted to execute uTorrent and that was then I realized the port the uTorrent was going to use. I clicked on "test if port is forwarded properly" and I came up with a bad port. It was closed. The one I see now is 33354.

I'm running the Westell 6100 modem. Thanks again Oliver.

if you use Utorrent, click on options then speed guide. Beside your port number there will be something that says: Test to see if port is forwarded properly, or something like that. Then just follow the instructions which arent that hard to follow even for people who are newbies.

Thanks ECW, however, I've tried that already. Everytime I startup I get the same port. I tested it and it told me that it was closed. And there are over 6,000 ports. I can't possibly test every port.

I have done everything that ecwrules said and when i go on ,,Test to see if port is forwarded properly" it says,, Error! Port 16886 does not appear to be open." Does that mean that my port is wrong, and how to know which port is opened, so i could use that port? And is this the problem because i slowly donwload torrents (1KB/s,0.5/KB/s)?

My apologies for the belated reply, but people have been unnecessarily bumping old topics and i get confused O.o

Anyone, back to your problem....

Deni, you will need to open the port on your router. Which router are you using? Try searching Google for 'YOUR ROUTER NAME port forwarding'

My router is Motorola SB5101E, could you please tell me any site for port forwarding? And what is port forwarding anyway? Could i damage my internet connection or router maybe while port forwarding?

You know it's actually simple. You don't need also those fancy software to do that...

However, you'll have to configure the modem manually. If I'm correct then it's "192.168.1.1" you'll have to go to in Internet Explorer.

You'll have to find the "Port Forwarding" option and configure the TCP and UDP (not sure how you spell the second one).

Enter a port... usually between 10,000 to 10,500.

I had a ten year old adsl modem, my ISP traded me up no questioned asked and now i can comfortable
get 300 KiB down and 50 KiB up. Took me forever to figure this out. A friend of mine was always bragging about his speeds and I was using the same ISP.

For debugging purposes, bypass router and plug straight into your modem if you can. Test and see if its better. Don't leave it that way though. If its better maybe your router isn't all that good
