Thread: Warning not to download Sony movie

There are already several meassages going arround from people that lost
their internetconnection because they downloaded the movie:

Kung.Fu.Kid.2010.DVDRip.XviD-ZJM(KARATE KID JACKIE CHAN)

from for example the PirateBay.

Here a qoute from the torrentcomments on PirateBay:

"My ISP sent me a Copyright Infringement Notice from when i download this about 2 weeks ago.....

Good Copy but the notice says the Reporting Agency: Sony Pictures

so are they tracking this file or what? "

It seems that the torrent is tracked. Also the text in the torrentdescription is a bit weird, a quote:

credit ZJM & to all the people who made it possible for us to share this...especially EVERYONE involve in the production of the movie...IF YOU LIKE IT...BUY IT

I still couldn't figure out if these users are from all over the world or only from one specific country.

Well, my advice is to stay away from it and in general it proofs that private trackers are more safe.

Anyways, nice little warning to keep us safe. I myself have gotten a warning from my ISP. Good to get this information out there. I approve, let's see what the other mods say?

Sorry for saying this but..... if you download anything from TPB these days you kinda deserve it.

Or for that matter, any public torrent site.

And if you want to use public trackers you should at least use an ipfilter or a software like Peerblock to block those ips as much as possible.

I wouldn't get that movie from TorrentLeech either. They are far too infiltrated. Get it from a much more private tracker, like PTP or **, but stay away from public trackers.

When I first started testing my ipfilter.dat file from Pawcio I would go into monitored torrents like that one on purpose, with lots of 'this is monitored' posts. Just to find out if the thing was effective. I never received a letter.

Google 'emule pawcio ipfiler' to find the file I use. It's a 'paranoid' file that is more than twice as large(more networks blocked) as any other I've ever seen.

I would add, try to never use public sites too. It's a minefield.

Jenna, are you saying TL is not safe to use?

TL has had problems like this before. Also, the MPAA probably doesn't search for just one movie. All the torrents are probably monitored, there's no question in that - it's a completely public site if you're talking about TPB. However, as I stated above TL has had issues with people getting DMCA letters from being on those torrents. In my opinion TL is not safe, and that's the main reason I don't even have an account there. :)

Just out of curiosity, are there any other private sites that should be possibly avoided? If a site like TL is infiltrated, then it could be argued that a site that's suppose to be easier to get into, like IPT where I personally get all my non scene stuff, would also be infiltrated.
