Hi,
I have a 16 Mbit(2MB)/s line, and speed tests have shown that my speed averages at around 14-15 Mbit/s, which is pretty close. However, I'm having problems getting my torrents to reach speeds above 500 KB/s. I use ?Torrent 1.7.5 and have my upload at 12 KB/s when downloading, unlimited when not. I have tried different ports, from the common 6881-6999 to numbers above 10000, and the ports in the 68xx range have been giving the best results, getting me speeds at around 500-600 KB/s. I always make sure to forward the ports I use through my ZyXel router-modem, and ?Torrent reports my ports as open and accepting connections. I've tried different tips like reaching a 1:1 ratio quickly by setting the upload limit high, and then taking it back down to about 12KB/s so the trackers will send more bandwith my way, and several other tips and tricks, but I still can't seem to get my torrents over 500 KB/s. I'm not complaining, 500 is pretty nice, but in theory I should be able to get a little under 2 MB/s. Any tips on how I can get that to work? PS. I know that some torrents aren't as popular as others, but I've downloaded some with a 5-1 seed to leech ratio with peers downloading at several MB/s, so that probably isn't the problem. Thanks |

Has this been a continuous problem, or a more recent problem?
Are you sharing this connection with other computer(s)? Are you behind a firewall? It could have been detected.. I also found this site helpful. How to Speed up your Torrent downloads | Felix Ker's blog
